Weekend Wrap-Up

Friday was a day of mourning.  We said goodbye to my dear uncle, Chris.  Although tears were shed at a loss this family will truly feel, it is with heavy hearts that we look to Jesus and know that he is with Him and at peace.  Love you, Tito Chris.  Eternal rest, grant unto him O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon him.  May he rest in peace.  Amen

Saturday, the girls turned 18 months!  Seriously!?!  Where in the world has the time gone?  I feel like time is flying by and I am barely catching up.  Anyway, what better way to celebrate than to go to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach?  It was a perfect day to go.  The weather was a little wet which meant that crowds wouldn't be too big.  The girls were asleep when we pulled into the parking lot and it took them a little while to adjust to the new surroundings.  Kurt and I opted out of taking the  double stroller, or any stroller for that matter, to avoid the hassle of having to use elevators and maneuvering through the crowd.  It's not like these girls were gonna stay put anyway.  It would be me chasing them through a crowded corridor running over massive amounts of toes.

Once we were inside,  the girls wanted nothing to do with the beautiful fish in the tanks.  In fact, they seemed a little terrified at the amount of fish bigger than them.  Not what I had pictured when I planned this little outing.  I envisioned screams of laughter and giggles as they pounded on the glass.
Instead, we got clinginess times ten.

We sat for a little while and watched the scuba divers in the tank feed the sharks.  Mia sat on my lap while Lily hung back with her daddy.  Total daddy's girl.  Mia was a little reserved on my lap.  She stayed close not wanting to leave my lap.  Until, she did.

This adorable little boy had a container full of her favorite cereal.  She eyeballed him in hopes that he would offer her a few.  He didn't.  So she tracked down a little girl holding a zip lock bag filled with some sort of snack.
This little lady wanted a snack and no one was sharing.
Good thing this momma comes prepared.  Animal crackers it is.

Don't worry.  Lily got her fair share.

She plopped on the ground in the middle of the walkway to savor every bite.

That little snack was a cure all to the slump they seemed to have been in.  They are grouchy little bugs, like their mommy, until something hits the tummy.  Their interest started to peak and chasing after them soon began.  Lily likes to venture off on her own while Mia takes comfort in holding your hand and making sure that Mommy or Daddy is within view at all times.

As soon as I said "Let's go"  they went... in opposite directions.  Story of my life.

Anytime they get to splash water is "Game on!"

Mia definitely takes after her dad.  As soon as she saw her reflection, there was no turning back.  I mean, wouldn't you stare at yourself if you looked that cute?

Hi birdies!

"Come on, Mom" How can I deny that? I'm all yours

Sunday morning rain called for jammies, cereal and cartoons while mommy got ready for the day.
It was a day of celebration as we honored my beautiful friend, the bride to be, Kim, with love and well wishes on her upcoming marriage.  These four ladies, the "wolfpack" as we like to call ourselves, from The Hangover, have been the truest of friends anyone could ever hope for.   It is nothing but laughs and the occasional drama, but mostly laughs. I love these ladies.

With mourning comes great joy and celebration.  I am lucky to have such a wonderful family and beautiful friends to fill my days with so much love.
