Holiday Traditions

The Christmas season is finally here and I couldn't be more excited.  It will be our first Christmas celebrating as a family of four in our new home.  I can already tell that this year will be super fun with the little ladies.  On our drive home in the evenings, they see all the pretty lights and each and every house is "so pwetty"  or "so boo-tyful".  I love seeing all the excitement in these two.

On Saturday, we ventured out for a "real" Christmas tree.  Growing up, we always had a fake tree and when we lived in the apartment, we had to settle for a little 3 foot Charlie Brown tree.  This year, anything bigger than that would suffice.  We headed to Home Depot to pick one out.

Daddy's little helpers.

Mia kept saying, "Bigger!"  I'm pretty sure she was imitating me.
Lily couldn't help hugging the trees.
We finally found the prefect tree along with two little elves.

Decorating with these two was as difficult as I imagined.  They did pretty well with leaving the ornaments on the tree once they were hung.

The biggest challenge will be not touching the presents underneath the tree.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Angela

Weekend Wrap-Up

Time has really gotten the best of me and I feel like these weekend wrap-ups can very soon turn into monthly shenanigans. I promise to do my best to not let it come to that.

Anyway,  our beautiful winter weather had us bringing out the kiddie pool.  Mia couldn't wait to dip her feet in the pool.  Who could blame her?  It was a billion degrees outside.  Ok.  Maybe more like 90.

Cousin Nate came by and hopped in the pool.  Funny thing about these two.  Two months apart and these two look more like twins than Lily and Mia.  It has been mistaken before when all three have been sitting together.

Lily wasn't in the water play mood.  She sat on the sidelines hoping not to get splashed.

Sunday was just as hot if not hotter.  Auntie and Uncle came by and that meant some crazy fun.  Mia especially loves it when Uncle Erick gives her a ride around the lawn.

As soon as it's over, Mia always says, "Mo? Mo?"  (more)

Waterbreak!!!

They love their Auntie and Uncle.

It was a perfect day (for Lily) to eat outside.

The rest of day was spent running errands around town with a little side trip to Urgent Care.  Mia has a tendency to hold her poop in and the constant mini-poops she manages to squeeze out of her butt has created a really bad diaper rash.  As a mom, fear always seems to get the best of you.  And after two hours sitting in the waiting room, we managed to see a doctor for five minutes to let me know that I should keep doing what I am doing.  Right on.  Thanks for that.  At least it wasn't some weird bacterial infection that required some medication.  Bright side in wasting two hours of my life.

She holds on for dear life trying to squeeze the poop back in.  There is always that sense of relief once it has been accomplished.

As a special treat, we stopped for some fro-yo.

If this is winter weather, I can only imagine what summer is going to feel like.

Angela

Weekend Wrap-up

This weekend was full of barfing and laundry.  Not the barfing that comes after a full night of partying.  It was the barfing that has you trying to keep sleeping babies from waking as you wipe them down, put new jammies on and change the bed sheets.  Lily has been under the weather since Thursday.  She started with a low grade fever followed by a stuffy nose and a cough.  The snack queen had no problem eating. Saturday evening, after the girls had gone to bed, I walked into the room and it wreaked of barf.  Lily had thrown up her dinner and was sound asleep covered in it.  Luckily, Mia was not in the line of fire and she was clean.

Sunday was barf free.  Thank goodness.  Then Monday happened.  The girls and I took a drive out to Burbank to take care of some errands.  When we got back into Whittier, I had a few more errands to run.  Target and Costco.  Lily was screaming her head off once we got off the freeway, so I decided against Costco and headed to Target.  We got out of the car.  I carried Lily as Mia held my hand and walked along-side us.  The moment we reached the sidewalk, ready to go into Target, Mia looked up at me with her doe-eyed look and began to throw up.  Not just a little spit-up.  It was everything she had for breakfast that morning and then some.  Poor little thing was car sick from the two-hours riding in the car.  People would pass by and make comments.  Seriously, unless you plan on helping, I don't want to hear it.  I scooped them both up.  Brought them to the car.  Changed them both. Grabbed some water bottles and proceeded back to Target. I used the water bottles to rinse the barf that was lingering on the sidewalk.

Last thing I wanted to do was have to pack up and go home without getting the necessary things I came for.  Besides, Mia was fine and I didn't want her to have to be strapped in the car.  Again.  That night, guess who decided to add to the fun.  Lily of course.  I was skilled at this point to be able to change her without waking and strip the bedsheets off while both were still on the bed.  Let's hope tonight is free and clear.  Or clean, I should say.

Anyway, despite the little bugs they endured, we still managed to find time to enjoy the abnormal summer-like weather conditions in the middle of February.

I had every intention of posting about our day at the zoo, but then post-nap, bed head fun happened and I just couldn't resist.  Zoo post will be up tomorrow.

Sharing is caring.

Lily was in a hugging mood.  She would run up to Mia and hug her, then run away and come back for more. I was practically in tears seeing this precious moment.

Bring it in, Sistah!

And.... they're down! ha ha

Seriously, she couldn't stop.  I think Mia was getting a little claustrophobic.

Post- nap giggles and love times a million.  Couldn't ask for anything better than this.

With Love,

Angela
