The Never Ending Move

Move in day has finally come.  After five months of waiting for some remodeling to be done, we finally got the go ahead to start packing up what we had at my in-laws and bring it on over.  And of course we picked the one weekend out of the whole year that happened to be 136 degrees.  Okay, maybe not that hot, but it sure felt like it.   Kurt and my father-in-law, Koko, got all the big stuff over to the house while I packed up some boxes.  Have you ever tried packing with two toddlers?  I pack a box and they empty two.  Thank goodness for grandparents.  Gawa helped keep them busy while I finished up and then my parents came to scoop them away for their very first outing with Lolo and Lola.  They’ve always just watched them at their house and after the craziness of watching two toddlers out in public, I wouldn’t blame them if it were the last for a while.  It’s exhausting!

I made it my goal to get the girls room ready before anything else.  It was important to have a place of their own free and clear of mess.  Their toddler beds were all set and ready to be slept in.  Our bed was still covered in plastic so that meant Kurt and I were sleeping on the couch.  A new house and new beds was no easy transition for these two.  They maneuvered their way onto the couch as well.  And for the first night in our new home, we slept as a family of four on the couch.  And I wouldn’t of had it any other way.

Night two was a little difficult as well.  I tried to lay them down but it wasn’t happening.  I was worried about them getting enough sleep since it was a school night.  Finally, they managed to fall asleep on the couch as Kurt and I emptied out a couple more boxes.  We eventually scooped them up and put them into their own beds.  Lily woke up in the middle of the night and plopped herself into our bed.  Mia woke up in the morning crying out for “mama”.  I moved her onto my bed and she slept a couple more minutes.

Night three was a little better.  Grant that they didn’t lie in bed till past 9pm (these girls are night owls), they still laid in bed.  Lily curled up and fell asleep with no problems.  Mia needed some comforting.  She fell asleep on my lap and I moved her onto her bed.  About four o'clock in the morning Mia woke up and joined me in bed followed by Lily about 10 minutes later.

Night four, Lily fell asleep on the couch and I moved her onto her bed and she slept the whole night through till about 7:15 am.  Mia on the other hand was a little more difficult.  She did not want to lay in her bed and I was too exhausted to wait it out.  I gave in and she slept in our bed.  I know that it will take a little longer for her to adjust, but we'll get through it.

I am very excited for these girls to have a room they can call their own and I think they are starting to realize that this is our home and that they have their own room with their own toys and their own beds.  As for me, I am exhausted and excited and my addiction to Pinterest is at an all time high.

I can’t wait for all the new memories to be made in our lovely little home.
God has truly blessed our little family and I cannot wait to see what else He has in store.

Alright, enough reading, onto some photos of our weekend/week.

There are just boxes upon boxes upon baskets and crap overtaking the dining room.

Our first night, we all somehow fit on this comfy couch.

Mia was too tired to make it to the couch.
I have no stove but I have a coffee machine.  As long as I have my two (three) cups of coffee in the morning, I'll be ok.
The girls brought home their first activities from school.

She can take over my bed anytime.
